Cookie Jar
Too many hands in it?
Its hard for me to find what area of photography I want to "specialize" in. By "specialize," I mean, to turn away all other work except for the area that I want to pursue. I absofrikkinlutely love shooting weddings, and is one area that I continue to excel in. My problem is that I tend to advance rather rapidly in whatever I do, so narrowing the playing field down is a challenge.
With that being said, I am excited to announce that I am now booking for commercial shoots. This started with Blaine Lewis, the up and coming guitarist that I shot a while back. So many people have commented on how they appear to be the images that you would see in a CD cover.
Bingo.
I ran a search for band, and music photographers in my area...and was surprised not to find any...well any that were any good...IMO. With that in mind, I thought of all the great musicians on Myspace, still looking for labels to sign with, and who had crappy not so good photos. I was shocked to see 100's of comments on these 40 pixel wide snap shots.
Bingo #2
Then I though to myself...I could donate my services to provide them with some frikking smashing photos! Why? In exchange, my website will be in tiny print on all the photos. With 100's of comments, and profile views hitting 100,000...I cant think of a more cost effective way to expose my business, on such a mass scale.
Bingo #3 baby!
So, a few clicks, and a couple hours later, I booked 3 very popular local bands...and one BIG R&B singer! I cant say his name yet, I want it to be a surprise. Some people probably haven't heard of him, but folks down in the dirty know who he his.
Its that easy guys. I get so many emails asking how I do things, because it appears that I have been doing this for a while! 6 months folks, thats how long I have been doing this! I tried to advise a few things to a fellow photographer the other day, and was completely blown off! I was told that they had never heard of a "blog," and that "personal" photos of yourself are not appropriate!
What, what, what? Are you kidding me? Am I the only rookie photographer who is staring out in the most perfect way? My goodness, I thought blogs were like CF cards. You cant go without them!
Gotta go for now, but before I leave, I just want to say that old people are cute. At the end of someones blog, there was the funniest comment! Check back Monday for more great photos! Have a great weekend everyone!

First off, congrats on your announcement of commercial photography, you'll rock with it.
Let me tell you about the guy I 2nd shot for, he doesn't let me put up the images on my blog for one and he doesn't want a link from my blog to his website. I need to get out and do my own weddings. have a good weekend.
Oh my goodness. Your comment from that older person was funny, so true, but funny!
I love your look at the business side of photography.
Way to go with your band and commercial shoots. That is wonderful! I can't wait to see what pictures you take with these.
How fun!
