Motorcyle Junkyard

About a mile from my house, there is this motorcycle junkyard...well...graveyard I suppose. I pass by it all the time on the way to the post office, and have been wanting to get inside to take some photos for months now.

Today, I finally decided to head down and capture my vision. The owner of the yard was your typical burly junkyard guy, with his son running the front desk. It was kind of cool because the kid must have been like 10, and he was fixing motorcycles. Crazy.

Anyhow, the guy tells me that all kinds of photographers have come in and taken photos, and all he asks is that he gets at least one photo. Well apparently, nobody has come through, which is sad because the dude doesn't have to let photographers on his property to begin with!

I think he'll be happy with these!

It's EXACTLY like I envisioned it!

Got Sprocket?

Although I had no intention of doing a pano, it ended up that way. These bikes we're begging me!

Those are great shots! They look like HDR...are they?

The timing of your trip to the junkyard is great! I've been wanting to get into an old car junkyard for a while now, and just last night passed one that renewed my desire to do just that. And now after seeing your post I'm even more excited about gettin' in there! Thanks for the inspiration. :)

Thanks Shem! You rock!

The top three are HDR, and were made using Photomatix. Only I didn't stop there, I added between 7 and 16 layers of lucis art at varying opacities from 6% to 67%, with the occasional mask to hide parts I didn't want affected.

With the bike pano...thats no HDR...its 16 layers of lucis, plus a half hour of dodging and burning!
